Some people doubt the abilities and even reality of the second-generation Tesla Roadster, though we aren’t sure why.
Tesla Roadster 2.0 on test track
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is known for his big announcements. Some are widely publicized in advance (i.e. the Tesla Semi) and others come as a big surprise. While some of us assumed that the Model Y, Tesla pickup, or Roadster 2.0 might make an appearance at the automaker’s electric semi event, Musk caught us by surprise when the Roadster appeared with its incredible specs and was available for test rides.
Several have suggested that the Semi and Roadster hype was mainly to take eyes off Model 3 production concerns. However, now, both have been spotted out testing/driving and although they’re a few years off (and perhaps longer based on “Tesla time”), the automaker seems to be aggressively working with the vehicles. With its limited time and resources, it would seem silly to be directing energy and manpower toward something that will never exist.

Nonetheless, Tesla’s plate is heaping full. Let’s hope that it can keep its priorities organized and put primary focus on getting Model 3 production up to speed, as well as releasing the base and dual-motor variants. Not to mention the vast importance (and anticipated popularity) of the Model Y, and getting it underway ahead of a lower volume commercial vehicle and a high-priced electric supercar for the wealthy.
